About

Hi! I’m Molly Phelps, the creative spirit behind Mollo’s Art. I’m a Studio Artist based in Louisville, KY coming from Western Kentucky University with a BFA in Painting and BA in Ceramics. My work is all about crafting engaging, playful pieces that invite viewers to dive in, connect, and experience my ideas in a whole new way.

Art, for me, is about creating moments of curiosity and interaction. My work revolves around the creation of fun, silly artwork that embraces vibrancy, curiosity, and small moments of wonder, inviting viewers back into the often-overlooked energy of the natural world.

I experiment with humor, anatomy, and nature, often using unconventional surfaces, painting animals and insects on cardboard and wood to explore how material shifts transform imagery. My practice also includes large-scale mixed-media works combining watercolor, gouache, acrylic, and oil pastel to create tactile, animated surfaces. In my ceramic works, I also focus on color and function in my slab and wheel pieces, creating pieces based on my love for nature and abstraction. Nature remains a constant influence for me because my favorite part about art is making people happy, whether it’s through my mediums of painting, illustration, or ceramic sculptures.

My years of interdisciplinary study in painting, ceramics, weaving, and printmaking have shaped a confident, recognizable practice rooted in material exploration and a dedication to the fine arts, which continues every day to express who I am and show others my love for art.
